My Struggles

My Struggles

I have things that have been a real struggle for me. One of these things was my GCSEs. I have always found them to be pretty tough and way too pressurised. This was always a problem for my anxiety levels and stress levels. What I didn't enjoy about doing my GCSEs was having to remember lots of scientific terms that I'd have to use later during the exam.

How Post 19 Has Changed My Life

How Post 19 Has Changed My Life

Post 19 has changed my life because it has made me a much more tolerant and understanding person towards other people. Before Post 19 I spent 2 years at Farnham Sixth College. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were very friendly. The college was incredibly small for a main stream college which it made easier for me as I couldn't get lost easily. The only obstacle I had whilst being there was worrying about what others thought of me, and if I was being judged or not. I was always very wary of what people were and like and how they behaved. I would often sit by myself and become shy and want to have my own space. I did this because I would get nervous and slightly hesitate. Despite of that, I often found a way of overcoming it and not worrying. I think what helped was the understanding staff and the positivity around me. This in a way really helped my self-esteem and made me feel comfortable. When I progressed to Post 19, I used a lot of the skills that I had learnt from the past years to my own advantage. My skills in Photoshop, Maths and English in particular, helped me with Graphic Design, Morning Work and Creative Writing. I have a lot thank to Farnham College and what they've done for me. My favourite thing about Post 19 is when I use Photoshop and use it to create artwork that can be recognised.

My Christmas Day

My Christmas Day

This christmas just gone was the best that I had in recent memory. The day started off by me waking up in the sitting room and having my dog Tilly come in and lay down beside my bed, wanting me to stroke her. Later, the dog came in again and slept on top of my bed, and I went back to sleep. When I woke up again, it was 10am. My dad called up to me to say that I should come down and fix the TV screen in the kitchen. I regrettably came down eventually and fixed the problem, annoyed that I couldn't sleep for longer. I had breakfast and went back upstairs to sort out the presents I'd bought for my family. We all unwrapped our presents by about 11am. My presents included a whole set of X-Files books, a Ministry of Sound CD, a Now 95 CD and a Jason Bourne Blu-ray disc. I was blown away by how good the presents actually were and got very excited. After unwrapping our presents, we headed off to my aunt and uncle's house. We arrived by about 1:30pm, and got some more presents from my aunt and uncle. We relaxed for a while and eventually had Christmas lunch by 2:30pm. The Christmas roast was very nice, and we then had a pudding. After the Christmas lunch, we all sat around the table and opened a star-shaped Christmas cracker. After we'd read out all the awful jokes, we sat around and watched Christmas Bake Off by 4pm. It was sad to see Mel & Sue host Bake Off for the last ever time. At around 5pm, my mum, my aunt, my two sisters and my cousins sat in a circle and played the chocolate game. Me, my dad, my uncle, my uncle's brother and my grandad weren't so keen at playing it. After that was done, some of us sat around on the floor and played a word description game. The final game we played was a hat removal game, with me having control of the music. We left by 7pm and managed to be in time for the EastEnders Christmas special.     Not much noteworthy happened in the episode apart from, Lee Carter being arrested for helping to organise a robbery at the Queen Vic on his own family, and the reappearance of Max Branning from prison. Some time after that, I spent some time listening to CD One of the Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2017. I really enjoy it and wanted to listen to the other discs on the compilation. We all watched a couple more hours of TV, and the day ended with me listening to CD Three of the Ministry of Sound compilation. I eventually went to bed at 1am, happy with what I'd received for Christmas.

Post 19 Newsletter 2016

Alex Vaux’s Blog
I wrote a blog about who my family are, what they do and what their personalities are like.

Rix Wiki
A simplified wiki people can use to communicate with others through pictures and symbols.

Mechanics Certificates
I created the certificates by using Photoshop to combine images from the internet to show the various mechanical parts identified during the lessons and bringing them together on the page.

Christmas Cards (Graphic Design)
We used Photoshop to create a background and various different layers so that the finished design would appear colourful and feature a Christmas tree.
